Budgam, Oct 13 (KNO): Police in Budgam on Tuesday claimed to have arrested three notorious drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
As per a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), police said that officers at checkpoints established in the jurisdiction of Police Station Magam and Police Station Chadoora intercepted three persons identified as Amir Ahmad Ganie, Tawfeeq Ahmad Yatoo both residents of Chadoora and Javaid Iqbal Jan of Isganderpora.
“During checking, officers were able to recover 100 grams of Charas and 12 bottles of codeine phosphate from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to respective Police Stations where they remain in custody,” police said.
Accordingly, police said a case under FIR numbers 182/2020 and 153/2020 under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Magam and Police Station Chadoora respectively and investigation has been initiated.
Meanwhile, police appealed to community members to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, police added.
